Randy Eugene Murray

August 17 1956 – August 4th 2026

Randy Eugene Murray, known to many as “Murr the Blurr” aged 69, passed away on August 4, 2026, at his Chimacum home, just weeks shy of his 70th birthday.

Born on August 17, 1956 to Robert and Ardella Murray, Randy was a man who lived life in the fast lane and always cheered the loudest from the sidelines. His great passions were cars and youth sports. Whether he was turning wrenches under the hood, admiring a polished engine at a local car show, or coaching and cheering on his children, grandchildren and anyone else on the field, Randy brought an infectious energy and dedication to everything and everyone he loved. He was a lifetime booster for both Chimacum and Port Townsend High School Sports. His legacy will live on through the generations of kids he inspired on the field and the rumbling engines of the hot rods he so admired.

From the time Randy graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1974, and even before, he worked for his father at Murray Auto Parts. Randy managed the Port Hadlock store from 1979 until the family business was sold in 1998. Randy then went to work for Westbay Auto Parts, until he retired in 2021. Randy was known for his wealth of knowledge when it came to auto parts, as he had sold them for 49 years and could recite part numbers from memory.

He was proceeded in death by his father Robert E. Murray, brother in-law Fred Bolling and niece Erika. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Lori Murray; his loving mother, Ardella Murray; and his sisters Dee Murray, Debbie Bolling and her sons Mitch and Jay. He leaves behind a proud legacy in his children, son Dean Murray and his wife Erin and daughter Haley Ryan and her husband Sean. Randy was also the world’s proudest grandfather to his four grandchildren, Devon Murray, Connor, Dawson and Paityn Ryan, who will deeply miss their biggest fan.

A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Port Townsend Elks Lodge. All friends and family are welcome to attend and celebrate his memory. A car show and serpentine leading to the memorial is also being planned, details will be shared closer to the event. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to support our local youth sports, honoring Randy’s lifelong passion for coaching and cheering on youth athletes.
