Patricia Mary Louise Ziekse, 80, passed away peacefully at her Port Townsend home on April 1, 2026. Patricia was born October 12, 1945, in Roseville, Michigan. She attended Roseville High School and later graduated with a master’s degree in library sciences from Wayne State University in Detroit. In the early 1970s, inspired by a John Denver song, Patricia moved to the Pacific Northwest. She settled in Seattle, where she worked as a librarian for the Seattle Times and met her late ex-husband, Frederick Case.

In 1991, Patricia moved to Port Townsend with her young daughter, where she resided until her death. A self-described “Amazon woman,” Patricia was strong, determined, loving, and witty. Patricia was a wonderful mother and loyal friend. She enjoyed traveling, journeying to five continents and taking regular road trips across the United States. A literary enthusiast, Patricia found friendship and camaraderie in her Irish poetry group. She was a lover of nature and animals, adopting many a stray in need and volunteering with the Humane Society.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Alma (Hartwig) Zieske, sisters Maureen Zieske and Corinne (Zieske) Michaud and brother-in-law Bernard Michaud, all of Roseville, Michigan, as well as her nephew, Tom Michaud of Mikado, Michigan. She is survived by her daughter, Meredith Case, beloved dog Princess, cats Puff and Boots, her “grand dog” Wiggly and “grand cat” Pearl, niece Maureen Michaud, and great-niece Paige McClorey. Patricia did not want a service, but per her wishes, her ashes will be spread near Point Wilson where she enjoyed walks with the dog daily during her early years in Port Townsend.
