Norman Arland Rogers Jr., a deeply loved son, father, brother, and veteran, passed away on July 6, 2026, in his lifelong hometown of Port Townsend, Washington. He was 70 years old. Born on October 24, 1955, to Pauline and Norman Rogers, Norm was raised and spent his entire life in the Port Townsend community.
He graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1974, where he built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Following high school, Norm proudly answered the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from September 1974, until March 1978. During his enlistment, he served as a Hull Technician aboard the ammunition ship USS Pyro (AE-24). His time in the Navy instilled in him a strong work ethic.
Upon returning home to Port Townsend, Norm married Rosanne Qualey in April 1983 and they welcomed their daughter, Tabitha, in November 1986. She is the light of his life. Norm worked at Olympic Disposal for a number of years, before beginning his career in the construction industry. Throughout the years, he lent his expertise to several companies, starting with Port Townsend Lumber, to Building Brokers in Sequim and eventually retiring from Hadlock Building Supply in 2020.
Norm was a Chevy guy to his core! He was huge Nascar fan, with his favorite driver being Tony Stewart. He also collected all kinds of diecast cars, including about 150 Matchbox cars at one point.
Norm was a proud community member, a dependable worker, and above all, a family man. His legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and dedication to his hometown will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Pauline Rogers; his daughter, Tabitha Miller, and her husband, Jon; and his two brothers, Leslei Rogers, and Corey Rogers and his wife, Marlene. He also leaves behind extended family, former colleagues, and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman A. Rogers Sr.
The Rogers family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to San Juan Villa Memory Care for taking exceptional care of Norm for the last three years, as well as Assured Hospice in Port Angeles for their compassionate care and support during his final months.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 22, 2026 at 3pm at The Hilltop Tavern in Port Townsend. Potluck will start at 3pm with Barstool Bingo at 5pm with all donations going to the Alzheimer's Association .
