Nancy Ann Fleming

January 28, 1935 — May 7, 2025

Poulsbo, WA

Nancy Ann Fleming (1935-2025) Nancy Ann Fleming, beloved wife of John (Jack) Fleming and mother of two children, Jim and Ann, died on May 7, 2025. Alzheimer’s stole her memory, and a stroke released her from her long journey with dementia. Nancy was born in Grand Rapids, MI in 1935 to Francis and Mabel Leavell. She was proud to have cared for her brother George as part of her childhood responsibilities. Nancy attended Creston High School and graduated from the University of Michigan. She left the unbearably cold Michigan winters to teach elementary school in the tropical warmth of Maui. There she met Jack. It was a short courtship followed by a marriage of 65 years, including the past 35 years near Poulsbo, WA. Nancy said her greatest joy was motherhood, and she was a devoted mum to Jim and Ann. She nurtured their creativity through example. She shared her talents in cooking and gardening, knitting and weaving, orchid tending and painting. As a family the Flemings moved to Australia, where Nancy was a teacher. Travel was a passion, the longest trip being an overland adventure from Kathmandu to London. She was a quiet listener and loved learning about the lives of others during her travels. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Jack and son Jim, and is survived by her daughter Ann (Scott) McMahon and her grandchildren. Nancy will be remembered for her love, kindness and grace. Love lives on.
