MaryRose Stanton, 86, of Port Townsend, died Tuesday, July 14th, surrounded by her loving family. MaryRose is survived by her children Kathi (Mike), Mark (Anne), Geina, Micheal, Barbara, Rene, & Cindy; her grandchildren Steffani, Charles, David (Bri),Elizabeth, Khristell, Stephen and Tiffany; her great grandchildren Alyssa, Wally, Gwyn, Asami, Damien, Alex; her nieces Sherry (Tony), Corinna, Robin, Annie and her nephews Tom (Linda), Steve, Tim and Terry.
MaryRose was born Mary Joan Spaulding in Morris Minnesota to Thomas and Emma (Garberick) Spaulding. MaryRose married Elmer “Butch” Stanton in 1957. They were married for 66 years until Elmers’s death in 2024. After raising their children, MaryRose worked serving the victims of domestic violence, started the first incest survivors group in Port Townsend and as a supervisor for Catholic Community Services in Seattle. MaryRose was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Port Townsend where she loved sewing with the “shady ladies”.
MaryRose’s memorial service will be at First Baptist Church of Port Townsend, 1202 Lawrence St, Port Townsend, WA 98368 on Saturday August 1st at noon.
The entire family would like to sincerely thank the EMTs, Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Jefferson Health Care. They were professional and compassionate during MaryRose’s final 6 days, both to MaryRose and to her entire family.
