Lisa Marie Voiland died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from natural causes. Lisa was born in Denver, Colorado and spent her young life in Lakewood, Colorado with her family. Lisa moved to Washington state in the early 1970's, and lived there the remainder of her life. Lisa attended Golden High School and Colorado State University in Colorado, and Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She met her common law husband, Matt Hovey, at Lisa’s place of employment at Kalaloch Lodge in the Olympic State Park in Washington. Lisa and Matt lived together until Lisa’s passing.
Lisa worked as a waitress all her life, with her most recent employment at Ocean Shores, Washington. Lisa was well known for her excellent customer service. People would seek her out as their waitress when going to restaurants where she worked.
Lisa was an artist and a writer. She is well known for her paintings of whales and other ocean creatures. Most recently, Lisa had begun painting rocks with designs and sayings on both sides so they could be flipped over. Lisa liked to look for and keep treasures she found along the beaches of Washington, especially beautifully colored agates.
