Lawrence Talbot Mundy, fondly known as Larry, rode into the sunset of life on November 3, 2025, leaving behind a trail of laughter and lemon pie. Born on June 11, 1952, in the town of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Larry’s journey eventually led him to settling in Washington State, where he lived for many years in Seattle, Wenatchee, and finally Port Townsend.
After earning his bachelor's degree in Botany from the University of Massachusetts, Larry began his career with the Forest Service. Though he enjoyed the serene beauty of the great outdoors, it wasn’t long before he decided to leave the wet woods for the more stable grounds of financial advising—leading him to swap his muddy boots for a tie, embarking on a new path as a financial advisor until his well-deserved retirement.
Known for his kindness and generosity, Larry was the sort of person who wouldn't just wait for an invitation to help; he would jump right in and do things before being asked, showing a selfless spirit that endeared him to many. Whether he was volunteering at the Port Townsend Food Bank or taking on house projects, Larry’s eagerness to help others always shone through. He was a master of old movie quotes and impressions of friends, family, and obscure celebrities. Larry's active lifestyle included many long bicycle rides, epic hikes throughout the Cascades and Olympics, and countless games of ping-pong. He loved photography from a young age and had a knack for goofy selfies. Among his friends and family Larry was known for his delicious grilled sandwiches, inventive cocktails, and killer lemon pie.
Larry seamlessly blended goofiness with an intelligence that made conversations both fun and thought-provoking. He was cherished by his wife, Diane Mundy, and daughter, Laurel Mundy who adored the delightful silliness he brought into their lives. Also cherishing his memory are his son-in-law, Brandon Husby, sister Dex Carpenter, and brothers Bob and Doug Mundy, along with many other friends and family.
The love, laughter, and warmth Larry spread during his time with us will continue to echo in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Here's to a life well-lived – cheers to you, Larry, you will be very much missed.
Donations in his name can be made to the Port Townsend Food Bank.
