It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Martin McCullough, Sr., 91, of Quilcene, WA, who bravely battled Alzheimer’s and died peacefully at home on July 6, 2025. James (aka Jim, Mac) was born on July 22, 1933, in Seattle, WA, to Ethel McCullough.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and a respected member of the community.
James is survived by his wife of 71 years, Aldene (Elliott), their children James Martin, Jr. (aka Marty; and his wife Karen), Kim (wife Terri), Laura Cheesebrew (husband Steve), Patricia Brunette (husband David), Tami Robertson, and his 11 grandchildren: James Martin III (aka Jim; wife Marla), David (wife Julie), Ryan, Glen, Jeffrey, Scott, Nicole, Chrishna (husband Cliff), Rachael (husband Josh), Randi, Jessica, and 21 great grandchildren: Madeline James, Noah, Jack, Lucas, Natasha, Emma, Riley, Elijah, Justin, Anthony, Aidan, Judah, Aamyah, Dominic, Oliver, Penelope, Ozzy, Aiden, Paisley, Aiden, Calliope and 2 great-great grandchildren: Freyja, Karter Rose, his brother Rich Walters and sister Gerri Walrod. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ethel, stepfather William, and youngest son, Orrin.
James graduated from Quilcene High School and joined the Army (discharged 1955). He married his beautiful bride, Aldene, in 1953 and together they had six children. In 1956 the family moved to Seattle where they lived until he retired after 30 years from The Boeing Company in 1988. At that time they moved back to Quilcene where he spent his retirement years.
He loved to bowl, golf, fish, hunt, crabbing, softball, gardening and was a member of the Quilcene Lion’s Club. His retirement passion was his woodworking. He sold many of his projects but also blessed many family members and friends with his beautiful handicrafts.
Jim will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.
Burial and grave site service for family and friends on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Quilcene Cemetery. On the same day a memorial service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 10104 Rhody Drive, Chimacum, WA 98325, at 1:00 pm followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Seattle Children's Hospital.
