James Lyman was promoted to Glory on February 25, 2025 with his soul mate by his side, holding his hand till he went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He had his closest loved ones with him all day... he loved his family above all on earth.

When Jim was born on July 27, 1939, the world changed. With such a full and long life, it's hard to pare down his legacy to a few short paragraphs. He was born in Glendale, CA to Muriel and Randall Kimble. Muriel later married Evan H. Lyman, and Evan adopted Jim promptly. He lived in Glendale until about age 12 when the family moved to Salt Lake City, UT. Jim (known as Jimmy then) thrived, and with his best friend Dave Jones, explored old mines and everything outdoors.

After graduating from Granite High School, he joined the Air National Guard, but after learning his eyesight was not good enough to be a pilot, he resigned and joined the Army. There he stayed until his retirement in 1979, proudly serving our Country for 22 years. He traveled the world, making Germany his home away from home, where he learned to speak German fluently and he became a U.S. Hunting Instructor, he also served in Viet Nam during wartime. He retired at the rank of Seargent First Class.

While serving in the Legal Assistance office in Fort Lewis, WA Jim met his soul mate, Terree, rescuing her and her infant son Donovan from a horrific situation. He was her knight in shining armor, and she told him this often.

Retirement didn't sit well with Jim, so he kept busy with many jobs. His favorites were Cheffing and managing restaurants and being a phenomenal Watercolor Artist. He found his true hearts calling in 2002 when he was ordained as a Pastor, serving at Evangelical Bible Church full time. He was a member of the Gospel Quartet called Witness, where they had a couple of CD's produced. He later wrote and had a book Published about the writing of the book of Revelation taking place on Patmos titled "His Revelation, again:. Jim served faithfully and with joy in his heart until his passing.

Jim married Judy Scranton in CA and had 3 children, Rebecca, James, and Evan (Debbie). He then in 1978 met the love of his life and married Terree Nelson on May 12, 1979, when he also gained another son Donovan. In the process of moving around, Jim also acquired bonus daughters and he loved them with all he had. He also acquired a bonus grandson who lets you know that he was papa's best friend.

Jim loved following his son Donovan to every sporting event he participated in, even ending up as an umpire in his baseball games.

Jim is survived by his adoring wife Terree (Nelson) Lyman of almost 47 years, his children Rebecca, James Jr, Donovan (Emily), and 2 bonuses Stacia Haskins (Jared) and Sheryl Vandervort (John), grandsons Jordy Haskins, James III (Hana) Lyman, Jeffery (Ashley) Kennedy, Matthew (Nona) Kennedy, Nate Lyman, Isaic Parker, and granddaughters Kylee (Levi) Marley, Priscilla Achten and Ruby Achten Plus 12 great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Muriel and Evan, and his son Evan III, and his unnamed child with Terree, whom he is now happily reunited with in Glory.

Memorial Service will be on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Evangelical Bible Church, 2135 San Juan Avenue, Port Townsend, WA at 1pm.
