Ellin Hager Larimer, a pioneering businesswoman, aviator, and fabric artist, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025 after an evening at the Seattle Symphony at age 98.
Born in Ostrander, Washington, Ellin's life was defined by creativity, wisdom, and independence. She graduated from Tigard High School, earned a degree from Whitman College, and later a master's from Simmons College.
A successful co-owner of OXARC, Inc. from 1970 - 1987, Ellin was also a skilled private pilot with both instrumental and commercial ratings and a member of the Ninety-Nines, an international association of women pilots. She gained recognition for her innovative fabric dyeing techniques and quilt designs, contributing significantly to the textile arts community.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James R. Larimer, her son, James R. Larimer JR. (Ellen Rogers), and son-in-law Bob Royer. Ellin is survived by children Nancy (Paul Krupin), Barbara, Dave (Erika Larimer), Doug, grandchildren Janet, Katie, Brady, Alyssa, and Emmett, numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
A private service was held in Nordland, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Youthcare, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, or Whitman College
