Elizabeth Ann Jones, 89, formerly of Clarksville, Tennessee and most recently of Port Townsend, Washington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born October 14, 1936, in Dallas, Texas, Elizabeth Ann Scoma was the daughter of Leoluca (Luke) and Josephine Salerno Scoma. She was raised in Dallas, where she developed a lifelong foundation of faith and a deep love for God. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and her husband, Billy Raymond Jones.
At the age of 16, Elizabeth met her future husband, Billy Raymond Jones. While she was playing the piano, Billy saw her for the first time and famously told his brother, “I’m going to marry that girl.” On October 15, 1953, they were married and shared 68 years of marriage and ministry together until Billy’s passing in July 2021.
Elizabeth and Billy served faithfully as evangelists and pastors for decades, traveling nationally and internationally in ministry. In 1966, they answered the call to pioneer a new church in Clarksville, Tennessee, where they served as head pastors of First Assembly of God Church for 25 years. Elizabeth often said those were the best years of their ministry. Following that season, they moved to Gun Barrel City, Texas, where they helped establish another church before officially retiring to Gallatin, Tennessee in 1998.
At the age of 65, Elizabeth returned to school and fulfilled a lifelong dream of earning her Marriage and Family Doctorate from Cornerstone University. She went on to serve her church and community through counseling, offering wisdom and compassion firmly grounded in her Christian faith.
Music was one of Elizabeth’s greatest gifts. A gifted pianist and organist, she led worship for many years and passed her musical legacy down through generations of her family. She was known affectionately as “Mrs. Piano” and continued playing up until the day before her passing.
In August 2024, Elizabeth moved to Port Townsend, Washington, to be near family, where she cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her children, David Raymond Jones and Rebecca Ann Gipson; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at First Assembly of God Church (1186 Fort Campbell Boulevard, Clarksville, Tennessee). The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00 am with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a memorial donation to be made to The Gideons for the purchase of Bibles. Family and friends may share memories of Elizabeth and sign the online guestbook.
