On July 13th, 2026, Donald Michael Mallett Sr quietly passed away at home. Dementia and recovery from a broken pelvis took its toll. Mike was surrounded by family till the end. Survived by his wife Ellen, children Michael, Travis, and Shelly.
His love of having fun in life was contagious. Always there to help. Found humor in everything. Most anything could be solved around a smokey campfire or with duct tape or WD40. So much caught his interest. Life-long boater and aircraft pilot. Garage sales had to be stopped at. Scuba. Basic mechanics. Loved cleaning things up with a pressure washer. Licorice, biscuits & gravy, a tasty beer, ice cream.
He gave his all to his family, his community, and Country. A wonderful spouse, father, protector, provider. Loved his time with the grand kids. Enjoyed the dogs.
Mike caught the aerospace bug early. Solo’d and private pilot license during college. It led to a long career traveling the world selling avionics. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcomed to the local Port Townsend Aero Museum. It has a very impressive display of unique aircraft supported by volunteers. A large focus is attracting youth to the sky. Donate and/or take a visit for some awesome flight history. https://ptaeromuseum.com/support-aviation-museum/
