Deborah Jean Boyd passed away at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in Gig Harbor, Washington, after a long battle with kidney disease. She was surrounded by love, with her family by her side.
Debbie was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, with her sisters, Cindy (Hart) Keen and Jordan Hart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Nancy Hart.
A 1978 graduate of Lindbergh High School, Debbie began her working life in customer service, working for several local businesses. One of her favorite jobs, and something she truly loved, was being a clown. Her years as a clown gave her many wonderful stories, and she especially loved sharing those memories with her nieces and nephews when they were young. Those stories became a special part of the memories they shared with their Aunt Debbie.
Debbie’s belief in God and her love for Jesus were an important part of who she was. She spent many years teaching children’s Sunday school and sharing her faith with others. Although, during her illness, she was no longer able to attend a local church regularly, she remained close to many of her girlfriends, the children she had taught, and the rest of her church family. Her faith remained strong throughout her illness and gave her peace as she prepared for her eternal rest. Those who loved Debbie can take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace with the Lord.
Debbie met her husband, Leo, while they were working together for a local cable television company in the late 1990s. Their relationship grew into a love that would last for decades. Eventually, Debbie and Leo left Renton and made their home in Chimacum, Washington. They were married on September 8, 2001, at Chetzemoka Park in Port Townsend, surrounded by the beauty of the place they had come to call home. They shared 24 blessed years together.
Although Debbie and Leo never had children of their own, family was always an important part of Debbie’s life. She was a loving and devoted aunt to her six nieces and nephews, and she adored her great-nieces and great-nephews. She loved them deeply and treasured the time she spent with them. Being an aunt was a role she embraced with all her heart.
Debbie will be remembered for her faith, her love for her family, the stories she shared, and the special place she held in the lives of so many people. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her sisters, her nieces and nephews, her great-nieces and great-nephews, her church family, and the many close friends who loved her.
A private burial will take place in Chimacum, followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date.
