On January 16, 2026, Daniel Alan Brown, age 67, passed away in Port Townsend, WA of natural causes. Danny was born on October 22, 1958, in Provo, Utah to Glen Reed and Betty Ruth Ellison Brown.
Danny lived a full life and loved adventure, challenges and anything fast. His motto was “When in doubt, hit the gas!” He was a natural athlete with extraordinary balance and nerve. On the Brigham Young University Ski Team and throughout life he was poetry in motion on the slopes. He was considered one of the best on the mountain. His grace and agility were also evident whether he was racing cycles (road or motorized, on or off-road), climbing, playing tennis, skateboarding or surfing. He was even known for jumping a car or two on his bike.
He graduated with a BA from Brigham Young University. Danny earned his Eagle Scout badge and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Denmark. In his younger years he loved to hunt deer and fish Hobble Creek. Danny’s fishing motto was FISH ON!
After graduating from BYU Danny entered the commercial banking business. He quickly discovered it was not his passion and left to pursue a career as an entrepreneur. His first venture was a bakery in Seattle, WA making Uncle Seth’s Cookies.
While in Seattle Danny discovered salmon, cod and halibut fishing. He excelled at it and found success with the techniques he developed. Often, other boats would line up behind his and follow him out in hopes of getting their catch of the day. Danny tried guiding others for a time but after a couple of weeks decided he did not like his clients “guiding the guide.”
Danny ultimately sold Uncle Seth’s and moved to Hawaii, where he founded the Waialua Bakery and Juice Bar in Haleiwa. The business is thriving.
He had many talents and interests including pottery and photography. He was very gifted at both. Danny was a very talented musician and could play by ear. He especially enjoyed jamming on his acoustic and his electric guitars on his deck overlooking Puget Sound.
Danny was kind and generous. He was described by a close neighbor as “The most giving man I have ever met.” He spent countless hours helping neighbors and friends with projects. He would do anything for anyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his siblings: Mike (Leslie), Barry (Debbie), Kelly (Sharon), JaNae (Alan), Bonnie (Dirk) and Julie (Claudia). Danny was a favorite uncle to his nineteen nieces and nephews.
