Carolyn Marie Neumann of Port Ludlow, Washington, passed away on June 20, 2026, of coronary artery disease. She was eighty-nine years old.

Carolyn was born on January 4, 1937, in Danville, Illinois, to Kenneth Rockstroh and Eleanor Anderson. She grew up there with her father, her stepmother, Helen, her brother, Jay, and her sister, Jane. While attending Danville High School, she met Wayne Newton Neumann, and they wed on April 17, 1954. They were married for 70 years. They had three daughters: Kathy, Linda, and Sandra.

Carolyn was devoted to her family. In addition to supporting her husband in his career, she planned and implemented everything from getting the kids ready for school and making meals every day to birthday parties and family trips every year. She often volunteered at their schools and served as their Girl Scouts leader. While the kids were in school, she worked part time selling Avon and working the Este Lauder counter at a department store.

Carolyn, Wayne, and the girls lived in Downers Grove, Illinois; Nebraska for two years; back to Downers Grove; then White Bear Lake, Minnesota, and Seal Beach, California. After the kids were grown, she had an active social life, hosting poolside parties in her home and serving as president of the Rossmoor Women’s Club. Carolyn and Wayne moved to Lake Forest, California. She worked at a Hallmark store, which she enjoyed so much she briefly considered buying a franchise.

Carolyn loved being a grandmother to Kathy’s children, Tom and Mike; Linda’s children, Kristin (now Ky), Kevin, and Brendan; and Sandra’s children, Charmagne, Crystal, Chelsea, and John.

After twenty-five years in California, spending time with Kathy and her family, Carolyn convinced Wayne to retire and move to Colorado to be near Linda and their younger grandchildren. After Wayne died, she moved to Washington to live with Sandra and her husband, Gordon, near Sandra’s children and grandchildren.

After a relaxing summer evening of watching TV and laughing at Gordon’s jokes, Carolyn went to bed and passed away during the night.

A memorial service will be held on October 2, 2026, at 10am in Port Ludlow, Washington. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited. (Please RSVP to gordy.sandra@gmail.com.) For those who would like to send flowers or cards, contact Sandra at gordy.sandra@gmail.com for a mailing address.
