Brian Daniel Gleason passed away on July 1, 2026. Brian was born November 12, 1971 in Port Angeles, Washington, to Gary and Karen Gleason, where he grew up with older brother David. After graduating from Port Angeles High School, Brian attended Peninsula College before transferring to The Evergreen State College, where he received his Bachelor’s degree shortly after marrying his “high school sweetheart,” Nicky in 1994. Brian and Nicky welcomed son Connor to their family in 2010.
Brian’s career was dedicated to serving the public. After many years at Thurston County District Court and at the state Administrative Office of the Courts, Brian relocated to Port Townsend in 2019 to become the court administrator for Jefferson County District Court.
Brian was always well known for his compassion and for being a fantastic listener. In every office he ever worked in, he always brought along his red, retro-style diner chair. “Having a Red Chair moment” quickly became shorthand for anyone needing a sympathetic ear and a comforting shoulder to lean on.
Brian loved making things from stained glass, mixing overly elaborate cocktails for his friends and family, and watching British murder mysteries, particularly those that have surly female detectives. He was an avid reader, and stalwart supporter of the public library system. He enjoyed taking walks in nature and long weekends at the ocean.
Brian would surely be rolling his eyes about the hubbub his departure caused and would surely scold everyone for making a fuss. He is survived by his wife Nicky, son Connor, father Gary, brother David, and more friends than could ever be listed here.
Family and friends are invited to share memories of Brian and sign the online guestbook.
