Barbara B. Heiman, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and woman of faith, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.
Barbara was born on September 5, 1947, in Port Townsend, Washington to Gola “Doc” Bare and Betty Hughes, both of whom preceded her in death.
In May 1965, Barbara married Joseph E. Heiman. Joseph died in 1968 in Vietnam. She then found her lifelong partner and true love, Marvin “Corky” Morris Jr. Barbara and Corky shared 36 years until his passing in September 2004. Together, they created a blended family filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Barbara’s family was the center of her life. Her blended family included her daughter Veronica Shaw (Charlie); sons Danny Morris (Charlotte), Denny Morris (Donna), and Joey Morris (Suzie). She was immensely proud of her grandchildren and loved nothing more than talking about their accomplishments. Her family continued to grow through the years, and she was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren who brought her tremendous joy.
She is survived by: her children, Danny, Denny, Joey, and Veronica; siblings, Frank Bare, Sharon Clark, and Shella Young; her grandchildren, Christopher Morris, Michael Morris, Amanda Morris, Keith Morris, Carolyn Bowlen, Michael Kelly, Sterline Morris, Charlie Morris, Baili Shaw, Anna Swanberg, Megan Shomaker, and Jeffrey Thompson; 19 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved life partner, Marvin “Corky” Morris Jr.; sisters, Judy Howe and Betty Carpenter; grandsons, Alex Morris and Ricky Humphrey; and her granddaughter, Kianna Brown.
Barbara lived a life filled with many different adventures and accomplishments. Throughout her working years, she was a waitress, professional wrestler, medical aide, cafeteria worker, and school office assistant. She also devoted time to her community as a leader for the Silver Spurts 4-H Club and her church, wherever they needed her.
Barbara was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved puzzles, sewing, billiards, fishing, and crafts. She won several awards while participating in the local pool league as a member of the “Chicks with Sticks” team. Barbara pulled in many salmon while fishing with her friends Ray and Norm off the local beaches. Her creativity and sewing ability were especially remarkable. She could create her own sewing patterns and used her talent to make horse show clothing, Halloween costumes, and even a beautiful bridal gown for her daughter. Her hands were rarely idle, and the things she created reflected her creativity, patience, and love for others.
Above all, Barbara loved the Lord, her family, and her friends. In recent years, she found another special family at San Juan Baptist Church, where she developed meaningful friendships and a sense of community that became an important part of her life.
Barbara will be remembered for her love of family, her creativity, her strong faith, her stories, her sense of humor, and the pride she took in every member of her large and growing family. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, Barbara’s life and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of life service will be held at the San Juan Baptist Church on November 7, 2026, at 11 AM. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for light refreshments in the church fellowship hall.
